Helix Tosta 1, Slugs 0

006 I don’t normally have much luck with peas. At first, I thought they weren’t germinating, but I have since realised that the slugs have been getting them. This year, I decided to do a pre-emptive strike with Helix Tosta 6x. This is a remedy made from toasted snail shells, and has been proved to be very effective against slug and snail damage. The 6x potency has a much higher amount of the substance in it than 6c or 30c.

As soon as I saw the little green shoots coming through, I dissolved some of the granules in my watering can and watered it on. Even the seedlings that hadn’t emerged would still absorb the remedy through their roots. About a week or so later, you can see that my peas are un-munched and doing very well. I haven’t used any other slug prevention tactics this year – I usually use those little blue organic slug pellets. I am so pleased with the results!

I also treated my emerging carrot seedlings, which usually fall foul of the little slimy munchers. These are also looking very prolific. I keep studying me brassicas for the first signs of aphids or whitefly, so I can zap them too. I am actually looking forward to an infestation so that I can try out agro homeopathy on them!

  1. Reblogged this on The Heritage Community Garden and commented:
Here a UK based Gardening Homeopath relates how she prevented Slugs from eating her peas with a dose of Homeopathic Helix Tosta.

Where will you get this product? Since you are in the UK, I am in the US, are there any online stores? Do you have any remedy for strange small holes appearing in your plants. I don’t know who is eating them.

    • I’ve just made a page of suppliers on my sidebar, so hope that helps.
The strange little holes sound like flea beetle. They jump up when you put your hand over the plant. I haven’t tried it yet, but Kaviraj recommends Hyssop. Maute says Sulphur ‘works on anything that crawls or flies’. Please let me know if you try it!

that’s great news. It is a wonderful remedy and one that would change the mind of any skeptic. I rarely have a problem with slugs and snails now thanks to Helix Tosta. I’ve been using it for the last few planting seasons with great success. Keep up the good work. Martin Byrne
